Previous Position:

Prior to teaching at Catalayah, I was a special education paraprofessional at Central Upper Elementary (CUE) in Claremore working with third, fourth, and fifth grade students.   CUE is now known as the Claremore Public School Administration.

Family Information

I am married with two precious daughters, Kirsten, 18, (known to me as "Special K"), and Alexis, 14, (known to me as "Lex").  Kirsten currently attends Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, and hopes to someday be an Opthamologist.  Alexis attends Oologah Public schools and absoultely loves reading.  Her hope is to someday be a writer.  As a family, we enjoy eating dinners at home, watching movies, and working with our family business.

We have two treasured dogs; Dasher, a toy poodle, who is a bit bossy and likes to think he rules the house, and Teddy, a shih tzu/schnauzer mix breed, who is fun-loving and allows Dasher to "rule" the house.

As for me, I feel blessed that I get to wake up each day, work with inspiring teachers, and do what I love--teach!  My teaching philosopy is centered around the quote from Benjamin Franklin, "Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I may not remember. Involve me and I'll understand."  With this quote in mind, I am constantly looking for ways to involve my students in the gift of learning.

Personal Information

My hobbies include Zumba, learning new recipes, spending time with family/friends, reading, and pinning on Pinterest. In fact, when I am not teaching, I am usually on Pinterest pinning things about teaching.  I enjoy learning from others and sharing with others.
